About the Book

This book is about a journey to become the father, not only we are destined to be, but we need to be. Not only does our family need us to lead, but so does the world around us. The world needs more examples of what a father truly is. It is frightening how many children are growing up without a father or even a positive male role model in their life. This is important because every boy grows up with a hero image in his mind of the kind of man he wants to be, and every girl has a hero image that colors her idea of the man she wants to marry. How can a boy grow up to be a man or a girl grow up and know which qualities to look for in a partner, if there is no example to follow. We're born with survival instincts, instincts on what it is to be a male - but not a Man and there is a huge difference! This difference is so significant that I believe it could solve so many of the problems our society faces today. The eight Principles are: 1. Man in the Mirror 2. True Strength is What's Inside 3. To Thy Own Self, be True 4. Defining Success 5. Creating an Environment for Success 6. The Art of Marriage 7. Understanding Our Children 8. Keep Moving Forward The eight principles in this book are a summary of my experiences gained from becoming a Master in Tae Kwon Do, a practitioner of Wing Chun, being an entrepreneur, working the corporate life whilst balancing being a husband and a father of two. Today who I am and how I raise my family and live my life is attributed to who I am as a martial artist and of course by being molded by my father's example
About the Author: My parents migrated from India to New Zealand, which is where I was born, along with my elder sister and younger brother. I was extremely fortunate to have incredible parents, and to this day, my dad is my hero. I grew up with a father who was an example of what a man is and what his role and responsibilities are. At the age of 14 my dad enrolled me into a martial arts school and this is where my life changed! I started Tae Kwon Do (Korean martial art) and earned my first Dan Black Belt by age 17, started teaching by 19, earned my second Dan by age 21, also started learning Wing Chun (Chinese Kung Fu) along with Tae Kwon Do and today, I am a 4th Dan Black Belt and continue my training as a Master. Along my journey I've studied Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do philosophy, and learned the healing art of acupressure. Today who I am and how I raise my family and live my life is attributed to who I am as a martial artist and of course by being molded by my father's example.
