About the Book

The world is ever-changing in unpredictable ways.

As a leader, you need to constantly re-examine your assumptions of what it means to be "great" as old models of leadership quickly fade into irrelevance. In short, you need an agile mindset.

But how can you, as a leader, become agile?

We need to update and disrupt past definitions of leadership -- to challenge ourselves and test our relevance often. We need to recognize challenges swiftly and respond decisively, especially when our environment is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous.

8 Paradoxes of Leadership Agility teaches you how to rise to your challenges by describing how leaders met their challenging conundrums with agility and emerged stronger.

This book outlines a powerful model and actionable steps using the Re4 Coaching Model developed by Chuen Chuen. The Re4 Coaching Model, clearly illustrated in this book, helps you see their world with objective clarity, understand what has to be done and why. Through this coaching model, you gain the resolve and confidence to overcome challenges with authenticity, integrate theoretical learning with practical steps and learn to thrive.

The Re4 coaching model focuses you by using four basic principles:

- Reconstruct the map - change your perception to find the truth;

- Refresh the Lens - identify and remove assumptions and bias;

- Renew the Identity - use your new perception and lens to create a new business persona that tackles change;

- Rebuild the Capabilities - Learn and practice new skills and actions for improved outcomes.

Using this method, Chuen Chuen shows you the gap between theory and practice through stories of leaders distilled into eight representational paradoxes that can occur in any culture, contexts, levels of seniority or industries. This book contains exercises with guiding questions you can use to navigate your paradoxes.

It's time for you to grow and thrive.

"I highly recommend this book to anyone who acknowledges the challenges of leadership and want a practical guide to effective, agile leadership." - Tee Loong Hua, Managing Director, Asean

"A smart, systematic approach to enlightened leadership." - Kirkus Reviews

"A compelling business advice book that encourages balance and adaption." - Foreword Clarion Reviews

"Change isn't always easy, but the author gives examples to show how possible and easy it is." - 5 stars review by Readers' Favorite

"Our workplaces are constantly evolving. We're all faced with the ultimatum of "change or get left behind" on a regular basis, especially when it comes to leadership. After reading this book, I feel much more prepared and less likely to be found in that "left behind" group." - Brian Sachetta, author of Get Out of Your Head

Readers of The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni, Reinventing Organizations by Frederic Laloux and The CEO's Secret Weapon by Jan Jones will appreciate the clarity and focused improvement highlighted in 8 Paradoxes of Leadership Agility.

    A Thrilling But Totally Believable Murder Mystery

    Read this in one evening. I had planned to do other things with my day, but it was impossible to put down. Every time I tried, I was drawn back to it in less than 5 minutes. I sobbed my eyes out the entire last 100 pages. Highly recommend!
