UN LIBRO QUE MUCHOS TRATARÁN DE OCULTAR: Crónica de unos lamentables hechos reales que cambiaron para siempre la vida del padre del autor

El 18 de septiembre de 2017, Vicente Pes -vecino del Puerto de Sagunto (Valencia)- sufrió una gravísima caída en unas escaleras mecánicas de la Estación de Atocha Cercanías Renfe (Madrid). En ese momento se dirigía junto a su mujer a tomar un tren para ir a la Terminal 4 del Aeropuerto Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, puesto que, al día siguiente, iban a viajar en avión a Guatemala, para pasar varios días de vacaciones.

Al caer se golpeó con aproximadamente 35 escalones metálicos que le provocaron un derrame cerebral, fractura de ambos húmeros y múltiples heridas por todo el cuerpo (manos, piernas, etc.) especialmente en la cara, donde además recibió 15 puntos en la frente.

Después de la caída, inicialmente fue llevado en ambulancia al Hospital Fundación Jiménez Díaz (FJD), perteneciente al Grupo Quirónsalud, pero allí recibió un trato horrible a lo largo de las más de 90 horas que permaneció en un box de urgencias, sintiéndose humillado y muy mal tratado. Posteriormente, fue trasladado al Hospital de Sagunto, donde fue atendido dignamente y operado del húmero izquierdo.

Necesitó 13 largos meses de rehabilitación y, aun así, le quedaron secuelas importantes con las que tendría que convivir el resto de su vida.

Por otra parte, de manera fortuita, su hijo Carlos descubrió que existía una problemática con las escaleras mecánicas donde sucedió el accidente y con otras de diferentes estaciones de trenes de Cercanías de Madrid: Zarzaquemada, Méndez Álvaro, etc. Dicha problemática fue la causa de que, después de muchas vicisitudes, en julio de 2019, Vicente pusiera una demanda judicial a Renfe Viajeros S.A.

En esta obra, Carlos Pes relata cómo sucedieron tales hechos y todas las acciones que emprendió para intentar que lo que le ocurrió a su padre no le pudiera pasar a nadie más. Algunas de dichas acciones fueron: ponerlo en conocimiento de diferentes autoridades y medios de comunicación, presentar una queja al Defensor del Pueblo, etc.

El libro está dirigido, especialmente, a todos aquellos que quieran conocer esta historia real, personal y familiar, que su autor jamás se hubiese planteado escribir antes de ver el gran sufrimiento por el que pasaron sus padres, como consecuencia de las decisiones que tomaron ciertas personas en determinadas circunstancias. Un sufrimiento que, sin duda alguna, podrían haberles evitado, pero no lo hicieron, con las consecuencias que ello conllevó. De no haber sido así, según afirma el autor: este libro no existiría.

  • La primera parte es trepidante, vives la angustia que está viviendo el narrador. Te engancha a seguir leyendo para ver qué ocurre. Vives la historia en primera persona, minuto a minuto.
  • El autor da sugerencias muy buenas de cómo actuar en caso de que pueda ocurrirte un hecho semejante.
  • Creo que el autor hace muy bien a la sociedad con su libro, independientemente de que esa sociedad pueda preferir continuar en el estado de indiferencia y mediocridad actual.
