About the Book

204 Short Monologues and Scenes for Kids and Teens contains mostly very short, very simple pieces for young actors, and may not serve your purpose if you're looking for intense, advanced, or complex material. Please use the Look Inside function on the Amazon listing or see the samples below to assure these will meet your needs before purchasing.

This book is designed for kid and teen actors to use in practice, in class, for auditions or just for fun.

KIDS SAMPLE:
SNOW GLOBE
I had this snow globe that I imagined could tell the future. I would shake it up, and all the little snowflakes inside would slowly fall on the little town that was sitting at the bottom of the globe. I would pretend it was a crystal ball, and I could see what was going to happen the next day, or even the next week. Sometimes what I imagined I saw, really happened. Once I shook it really hard and dropped it. It crashed on the floor and there was snow globe everywhere. I didn't see that coming.

TEENS SAMPLE:
STARGAZING
I sometimes look to the stars, hoping to get answers to all my questions. Even just some of them. That would be okay. But I'm finding that the more time passes, the more questions I have. There's something magical up there, I know it, but people keep telling me to stop stargazing. To keep my feet on the ground. To not reach beyond my grasp. Yeah, maybe the answers aren't up there. Maybe I need to look inside more, try to figure out things for myself. But I do know there's wonder out there, and I'll never stop looking up.

The majority of the pieces here are under one minute, allowing for easy memorization and comprehension, while still telling brief stories with entertaining plot twists and allowing the younger actor to delve into character, history, relationships and environment.

Talent agents and casting directors want to see what the actor can do in a short amount of time. Thirty to sixty second pieces, like most of the ones in this book, are ideal for that specific reason.

In this book are many fun pieces you'll be happy to see your own kids and teens performing, knowing they're not just learning to act, but also to tell stories and interact in positive ways.

Some of the pieces in this book are more serious, and allow the younger actor to dig deeper and understand the character's journey.

Many of these can be used for boys or girls by simply changing the names, and many can cross into different age ranges by using different scene and character direction.

Included in this book...
- Tips on memorization.
- Tips on character development.
- Tips on character interaction.
- 56 Monologues for kids.
- 46 Scenes for kids.
- 60 Monologues for teens.
- 42 Scenes for teens.

KIDS SAMPLE:
FRED DANGER
Fred Danger here. Defender of the universe and friend to all. If you're ever in trouble, want a helping hand, or just need a friend to talk to, I'm your man. Everyone has a time in their life when they need help and don't know what to do or who to call. Anything you need, I will step up and lend an ear, stand for justice, or mow your lawn. I will be your hero. Righteousness is my reward. And my rates are pretty reasonable too.

TEENS SAMPLE
PIECES
I've been trying to pick up the pieces for days. It's the miniature glass piano she bought me for my last birthday. It's everywhere. Even when I think I'm done, I keep finding pieces. I threw it against the wall. I know, it was a dumb thing to do, but I kind of lost it when she left. When you're that angry, you don't think at the time how much you're gonna miss something when it's gone, and you end up doing things you regret. But the pieces are still there. I think I'm gonna be finding them for a long time.

Enjoy the journey!
