About the Book

Is Coronavirus Our Generation 1918 Flu? In 2009 the Swine Flu H1N1 hit Mexico near Mexico City which caused over 17,000 deaths. Mexico City went into a total quarantine. No restaurants or shops were open in Mexico City with a population of over 8.5 million people for many weeks. Michael Osterholm from the UMN and part of the CDC was on a talk show (Oprah) during the start of the Swine Flu outbreak and said, "No one has ever tried to restart a global economy before." Coronavirus has already started to slow down the global economy. We have reduced flights to outbreak areas and reduced going out of our homes in just the past few weeks. The 1918 flu started at end of the flu season and then returned in the fall of 1918. It also returned in 1919. Total deaths of the 1918 flu were over 100 million people on earth. This was before air travel. Another story from the 2009 Swine Flu was done by PBS news. They were driving around Mexico City during the peak of the quarantine and found all the stores and restaurants closed. They finally found a man on a street corner with his son trying to sell flowers. The man stated that selling flowers is how he made money for his family. He also stated that he had not sold even one flower for over 3 weeks. I always wondered how many days he was on the corner before he sold his first flower. How we handle the Coronavirus over the next 2 years in the USA and around the world will determine how we get through the Coronavirus bottleneck. Proposed Ideas to Navigate the Coronavirus Bottleneck: -USA and all other countries need a Coronavirus Czar to oversee the outbreak such as Michael Osterholm not the vice president of the country. -We need the USA Military to oversee the operations in the USA. They can setup testing centers throughout the USA and manage the quarantine centers if the Coronavirus outbreak happens.-The military can take over empty retail space to setup the testing clinics and quarantine centers. In my area old Kmart, Shopko stores are available to become quarantine centers. We need to keep the people with the Coronavirus out of the hospitals. -All persons with a body temperature of over 101 F must not work or be in the public areas.- The government should investigate a payment plan for the sick workers to help them pay their bills. Example: Unemployment Benefits-All persons must get the current flu shot. This will not help with the Coronavirus but help them not get the current flu strains which would keep them out of work.-The WHO must work with all countries to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus including countries like Iran who have sanctions that prevent them from getting drugs and masks. -All dead should be cremated.-All workers without the flu should work to help keep the global economy running. -When the Coronavirus vaccine comes out in 18 months all people must get the shot.-In USA we cannot wait for the new president to be elected into office in January of 2021. We must start to get ready in the next few months. I support Mike Bloomberg for president not Trump.-Each person needs to be as healthy as possible. Eat right, get your sleep, stop smoking and much more. -Wash your hands and do not touch your face.In 1918 Henry Ford built his cars with most of the parts traveling less than 100 miles away. The Ford cars and trucks have parts coming from over 7000 miles away. We need the global economy to keep working. Like Michael Osterholm said, "No one has ever tried to restart a global economy before." Share your ideas and comments at 180AboutFace.com
