Traditional Publishing is a thing of the past. In today's technology driven world E-books are selling more copies than paperback books. This book is a 10 step guide book to teach you how to supplement your income and create residual income all by sitting at the computer typing and writing about things you enjoy in life. It is that simple. Part I of 10 Step Guide to Supplementing Your Income By Writing E-books will talk about steps 1-5 in the process. Step 1 Have a Dream When you begin the process of writing E-books or writing anything at all it is important to have a dream to write about. It does not always have to be an epic fantasy as a dream but it does need to be something you are passionate about. It is pointless to sit around and waste time writing about things that you are not passionate about for many reasons. Step 2 Broadening and Defining Your Subject You can think of this as reading a book. What is your favorite book? Chances are you have read a Harry Potter book or The Boxcar Children series as a child. All of those books are great but each one of them is different and has their own writing style. Step 3 Do Market Research Before beginning your E-book do a lot of market research on the topic you want to write about. It is extremely helpful if you are writing about a topic that is a niche subject. A niche subject is a topic of writing where there is already a tremendous amount of interest in what you are writing about established on the market. For example, I write many books about my life with Autism for many reasons. Step 4 Preparing an Outline for Your Book Before beginning your manuscript it is good to have a plan. We mentioned having about 10 different chapters in your book. This is the time where you will want to sit down and plan out those 10 different chapters in detail. It is now time to expand upon the 10 different aspects of your book and come up with about 5 key points for each aspect to discuss in your book. Step 5 Creating Content that Stands Out for Your Manuscript This is it. Your dream of writing a book is now turning into a reality. You have a basic outline written and ready to go and you are now ready to begin chapter 1 of your manuscript. This is where you begin to get some freedom in what you can do with your writing. You have now followed some very basic writing principles and ideas that I have outlined. You have a good body set up and you are ready to tweak it or decorate it to make it stand out. This is your chance to shine as a star writer. Use it wisely and freely. This is where your expression as an artist should come out and show. You should make sure that you do many drafts of your first chapter because you want your first chapter to be just perfect. It is helpful if you are able to edit for spelling and grammar. This first round of edits does not have to be perfect as we will come back and do some re editing in the next few review sessions of our manuscript.
