El último ermitaño de Caaveiro es una novela de ficción, con base histórica, ambientada en el tan pintoresco como misterioso monasterio medieval gallego de Caaveiro y en la famosa y sugerente fraga del río Eume, como allí se denomina al bosque primitivo autóctono que aún lo circunda hoy en día. La novela -única ambientada en Caaveiro hasta la fecha- incorpora sus leyendas más conocidas y está fundamentada en un documento medieval del siglo X que recoge la fundación de este mágico cenobio por el obispo San Rosendo. En el pergamino se registra la presencia en la zona, de los últimos eremitas, penitentes de vida solitaria y montaraz que fueron antecesores y coetáneos de otros monjes más modernos que habitaron el convento hasta el siglo XVIII.El hilo conductor del relato es la diabólica obsesión un fraile medieval por alcanzar el puesto de abad de Caaveiro, y las atrocidades que está dispuesto a cometer para lograr ese propósito.Entre los personajes que intervienen en la trama, figura el propio San Rosendo quien, tal como refiere la leyenda, es protagonista allí, a orillas del río Eume, de su conocido -y cuestionado en la novela- milagro del anillo y el reo. También interviene Vistravarius, extraño anacoreta cuya presencia en la conocida fraga eumesa está igualmente documentada en el antiguo pergamino, así como otros personajes típicamente medievales, entre los que no faltan los, tan históricos como legendarios, invasores normandos.*Rafael Saura nació en Ferrol en 1956, trabaja en el astillero Navantia Ferrol como proyectista naval desde 1982. Además de la presente, tiene otras 5 obras publicadas: un ensayo sociológico titulado El Paradigma: Por qué somos como somos los de clase media, Ed. Inéditor, 2013; y 4 novelas: Huir del Aire, Ed. Martínez Roca, 2002; La sombra de la Luna, Ed. Inéditor, 2006; Vientos de Naufragio, Ed. Espino Albar, 2011; y El trigo de los asteroides, publicada, al igual que El último eremitaño de Caaveiro, en Amazon. Con la primera de ellas ganó el accésit de finalista del premio internacional de novela Histórica "Alfonso X el sabio" en su edición de 2002.Saura ha publicado también varios cuentos, una guía ilustrada de su ciudad natal y numerosos artículos de opinión, tanto en el Diario de Ferrol como en el periódico digital Ferrol360.
About the Author: Rafael Saura nació en Ferrol -ciudad singularmente próxima a Caaveiro- en 1956 . En 2002 obtuvo el accésit de finalista del premio internacional de novela histórica "Alfonso X el sabio" con su primera novela "Huir del Aire". En 2006 publicó "La sombra de la luna", también de tema histórico. En 2011 publicó "Vientos de naufragio", de ambiente marino, y en 2013 un ensayo sociológico titulado "El paradigma", inspirado en la actual crisis social y económica. Estos cuatro libros se encuentran disponibles en formato tradicional -papel- por Internet y en librerías. Junto a "El último ermitaño de Caaveiro", las novelas: "Vientos de Naufragio", ya mencionada, y "El trigo de los asteroides", de ciencia ficción, figuran también en el catálogo de Amazon.
