Zong PuMadam Zong Pu was born in Beijing in 1928 and raised in Tanghe county, Henan province. She graduated from Tsinghua University Foreign Languages Department and finished her career with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Foreign Languages Reearch Institute. Her father, Feng Youlan (1895-1990), is regarded as the pre-eminent Chinese philosopher of the 20th century whose magnum opus was the publication in 1934 of the two-volume History of Chinese Philosophy. Like her father, who lived to the ripe old age of 95, Madam Zong Pu, who is 90 this year (2018), is what you'd call 'a chip off the old block' in terms of her longevity, and is still actively writing and managing the translation into English of her wonderfully rich novels so they can be published internationally and appreciated by non-Chinese readers all over the world.
