Zhou DamingZHOU Daming is Professor of the School of Anthropology and Sociology, Chang Jiang Scholar Distinguished Professor of Ministry of Education, Director of the Ethnic Group Study Centre, Sun Yat-sen University, Deputy Director of Historical Anthropology esearch Center, Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Science Key Research Base at Sun Yat-sen University, and Vice-president of the China Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (UAES), China. He was co-editor of the US-based Chinese Sociology Anthropology (1981-2011). He has published nine books and a few dozen articles. His academic contributions have mainly focused on aspects of migration and urbanization, ethnic groups and regional culture, applied anthropology, and construction of anthropological discipline. He is the initiator of urban anthropology research in China and constructed the theme, method and theoretical basis for the study of urban anthropology in China. He has also used the theory of ethnic group and ethnic group relations to carry out regional cultural studies in China.
