Graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, was granted a Degree of PhD (History). In his studies and research, he specialized in African afairs. Speaks English, French, Russian, Swahili, also fluent in German, Spanish and Portuguese. He travelled excessively around the world, and this helped him to become an author who bases his works on historical facts and personal experience. Now he and his wife, Marina, reside in Halifax, Canada. Yury Vasiliev is also the author of number of books, such as Over the Equator, and some other works on History. Saga of Carus is the author's way to say sincere and heartfelt thanks to Canada which is more than a decade his home.
