Watt W DozierWatt William Dozier, Bill, was a Distinguished Military Graduate at the University of Houston. He served in the U.S. Army as an artillery officer from 1964-1970, spending much of that time in Germany. Bill received an Honorable Discharge from the Arm in 1970 at the rank of Captain. He then attended NMHU and in 1972, he received his master's degree in pottery. He went on to own and operate pottery shops in both New Orleans and Arkansas over the next 12 years. Bill reentered academics in 1980 at Stephen F. Austin University. In 1982 he received a Master of Fine Arts Degree in sculpture and art history. Bill's combined expertise lead him to teaching. From here he spent the next 5 years teaching philosophy and world religion at Harrison Community College in Arkansas. In 1987, Bill decided to dedicate his life to ministry. He attended Southern Methodist University for the next 2 years and obtained a Master's in theological studies, becoming a Deacon in the United Methodist Church. Bill presided over several Methodist Churches throughout the next 21 years, finally retiring as an Elder in 2008. During his time serving the United Methodist Church, Bill had heart surgery in 2001. After this surgery he felt inspired to begin painting and writing poetry. Since that time, Bill has painted in watercolors, oils and acrylics. His painting has ranged from water colored Texas landscapes to autonomous acrylic abstraction. As with any artist, he continues to pursue improvement in his craft with every brush stroke.
