Walter Franklin Davis

Walter Franklin DavisFranklin Davis has transitioned from a 35+ year career in IT, Software Development, Graphic Design, and Digital Marketing to pursue a new career as a writer. Prior to writing his first two books, he mainly wrote business content during his career, inluding websites, marketing materials, copywriting, technical writing, and designing logos, graphics, and websites. War on Chronic Pain(TM) is the author's second non-fiction book and when it comes to the book's subject, Franklin has intimate firsthand knowledge about the issue of chronic pain. He was diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis as a teenager, but he only began experiencing significant lower back pain in his late fifties. As his scoliosis advanced, his pain gradually increased until he started considering back surgery as a potential solution to his pain. Ultimately, he chose to undergo spinal fusion surgery (T5 to S1 to Illiac Wing) to correct his fifty-two-degree spinal curve. Unfortunately, since his first surgery in 2010, he has lived in constant pain due to three failed back surgeries intended to correct his back pain from scoliosis. Those surgeries left him with permanent nerve damage and neuropathy in both legs, feet, and upper back.He researched or tried nearly every potential solution on the market to find the therapies, devices, and medications to help alleviate his pain. These include practically every opioid formulation, from Avinza to Xtampa, and everything in between. Because most oral and transdermal medications have become generally ineffective for him and additional surgeries are not an option, he finally had an intrathecal pain pump surgically implanted in February 2021. This device applies opioids directly into his spinal fluid as a last-ditch option for controlling his nearly constant level six to eight pain. Franklin covers this solution and the many others he has tried. He shares his firsthand experiences with readers so they may benefit from a patient's perspective rather than just rely on a doctor's or drug and device manufacturer's viewpoints.Franklin hopes that these efforts will provide the information and insider's perspective into the many pain treatment options and technologies available today with the primary goal of helping pain sufferers live their lives with less pain and ultimately declare victory in their War on Chronic Pain.
