Van Thai Than

Dr. Thai received his DVM in 2006 in Vietnam; a PhD in biomedicine in 2014 at the Faculty of Medicine, Chung-Ang University, Korea. He served as Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Chung-Ang University for thee consecutive years before joining the Faculty of Biotechnology, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, then Faculty of Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Environmental Engineering, Phenikaa University; and now Faculty of Applied Sciences, International School, VNU. His interest fields are included microbial epidemiology, microbial evolution, microbial immunology, gene expression, vaccine, and sub-unit vaccine. Dr. Thai has extensive working experiences with various types of microbes, including the human microbes (Rotavirus, Norovirus, Parechovirus), the animal microbes (Influenza Virus, Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus, Infectious Bronchitis Virus), and plant microbes (Sri-Lanka Cassava Mosaic Virus, Enterobacter cloacae). His most recent research is the infection of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) in Vietnam. This research focuses on HPV detection, HPV genotype identification, HPV vaccine evaluation. The results will provide evidence for that the HPVs remain as a reservoir of causing human papillomavirus carcinogen as well as suggesting for the development of appropriate HPV detection kit and vaccine in Vietnam.
