V Gene RobinsonV. Gene Robinson was elected bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire on June 7, 2003, becoming the first openly gay and partnered bishop in historic Christianity. He retired from that position in early 2013. In 2017, he became vice presidentof religion and senior pastor at Chautauqua Institution, having served for nearly five years as a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, Washington, D.C. He authored In the Eye of the Storm: Swept to the Center by God and God Believes in Love: Straight Talk About Gay Marriage and is the subject of two feature-length documentaries: For the Bible Tells Me So and Love Free or Die, which won the Special Jury Prize at Sundance.
