Chisholm (Belle Chisholm/Vera Akomah) is a retired senior noncommissioned officer with thirty-two years of active military service in the Woman's Army Corp (WAC), US Army, Army Reserves, and the Federal Civil Service. Belle and her three sibling were raised by their grandmother, aunt, and two uncles in Charlottesville, Virginia. After graduating from high school, she enlisted during the Vietnam War in the Woman's Army Corp (WAC) and then the United States Army. She is a veteran of three wars: Gulf War, Iraqi War, and Afghanistan. She currently resides in Round Rock, Texas, with her husband, Chris, and her crew-Asia, Diego, and Q-Tip-and her extended family as she enjoys her retirement and continues her work as a writer and novelist.
