Tyler Ross FlockhartTyler Ross Flockhart received a PhD in Sociology from North Carolina State University in 2019 and currently is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Viterbo University. His research centers on how inequalities are reproduced in everyday life. He hasexplored this issue in familial relationships, extremist organizations, and popular media. Dr. Flockhart also has a line of research that focuses on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Here, he has looked at the utility of sociology as a perspective for enhancing student learning in other academic disciplines, as well as how symbols found in cemeteries (e.g., gravestones) can be a useful tool for teaching students about historical and cultural change in the U.S. Currently, Flockhart is working on research that explores how young adults working in healthcare settings use religion and spirituality to make sense of death and illness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
