Tish Ince

Tish InceTish Ince is a Trinidadian / Irish London feminist writer and Bay Area published poet. She has a background in youth and community work, person-centred counselling and theatre. This is her debut book - A dramatic memoir of her early grief years and gief journey, the inspiration for her one-woman show, 'This Shite Grief, ' and has taken four years to write. She writes poetry on oppression and anti-racism themes and was nominated for Gloucestershire Poet Laureate, UK, in 2019. She also won a 2020 Paper Nations Marginalised Writer Award South West of England, and in 2022, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize - 'Best of The Small Presses' - BrownstonesPoets (New York) for her grief / Ukraine war poem, ' I Polish Shoes.' She reads poetry and excerpts from her books globally across Zoom and live events from her San Francisco home.She began writing her book Good Grief Please! - A Dialogue with Death and Life after the death of her husband, David, in 2017. Her profound experience of grief, complicated grief, and processing her progress along the five stages of grief aremet with a 'connection' with her loved ones in spirit and the help and insights they give her along the way. She is her authentic self in grief, both as a writer capturingthe truism of her widowhood no matter how that comes.This is explicit in its pain and profanity and warns that she swears throughout though is apologetic for any offence. She has a number of publications that she is completing including, 'The San Francisco Story, ' and Poetry collections 'Becoming, 'On Grief - WIDOWLAND', 'On Women', Poems To Men 'On War', Poems for Peace' and scriptwriting.Tish Ince facilitates Grief Writing, Method Writing, and Teen Writers Workshops online at her website and attends creative writing spaces at The Writers Drop in - The San Francisco Writing Institute, Bay Area BIPOC Writers Workshops and LIFE Writes - Old Diorama Arts Centre, Euston, UK She is a mother to one daughter, has three grandchildren and lives in San Francisco with her beat poet /publisher and 'alive husband' Dane.
