Tim ScheirerTim Scheirer, originally from Southeastern, PA, relocated to Southern MD, in Feb. of 1982 to assume the position of Exhibits Planner for the St. Mary's City 17th Century Historic Park. Tim graduated from the former York Academy of Arts, York, PA in 168. After his service in the U. S. Navy, he received a BFA from Kutztown State University, Kutztown, PA in 1975.While Tim served in the Navy, He advanced to Illustrator/Draftsman Second Class. Tim served at NATTC Glynco, GA. He fabricated and designed training aids. His next duty station was Taipei, Taiwan where he headed the graphics dept. for the Intelligence Support Facility.As a professional artist, Tim has pursued many types of artistic applications, including commercial art and graphics, signage, automotive custom paint applications, and restoration. He was employed at Valley West Automotive, Fogelsville, PA. where he established and headed the custom paint department.Tim left the St. Mary's City project in 1984 and became a project supervisor for Studio Carli, York, PA.In 1987, he and his wife established Scheirer & Co., Inc. In 1997, he took on the position of project supervisor for Zoo New England, Boston, MA. He designed and constructed animal habitats. Tim left that position to join the staff of the Calvert Marine Museum in 1999. He was hired as its Exhibit's Tech. retiring from that position in 2019.Tim continues as the designer/production manager for Scheirer & Co., Inc.Artist StatementAfter almost sixty plus years of professional pursuit, I still cannot decide what I want to be when I grow up.I view practically everything around me as a creative opportunity. My interests in all things allow me to imagine my work by size, color, material, and fabrication technique. I have extensive education and training in many disciplines. I am able to pursue virtually any direction I may choose to follow 2D or 3D.My inspirations are motivated by the manipulation of materials: paints, wood, concrete, plastics, fiberglass, and metals, as will as architecture, natural surroundings, abstract and graphic patterns, sound, motion, shaped surfaces, and of course, humor.
