This book evolved from a planned gift for Dr. Hearn, who celebrated his 20th year as president in the fall of 2003. Mr. Hearn was aide by several distinguished individuals in this endeavor: Gene T. Capps, director of the Wake Forest College Birthplace Museum; Chaplain Edgar D. Christman, retired chaplain of Wake Forest University; Dr. J. Edwin Hendricks, Wake Forest history professor whose class offerings include The History of Wake Forest University; and Dr. Edwin G. Wilson, University Provost Emeritus.
