He has asked me not to relate the details of his life which he regards as totally irrelevant to his work. He has specifically requested hat I not mention the schools and universities he has gone to since he regards them as having been barriers to his intellectual development, such as it is. Anything he has achieved is in spite of them. To give them any credit would be like Solzhenitsyn crediting the Gulag for his Nobel Prize. If our time in hell inspires in us a motivation to write, it does not follow that we should praise hell; quite the contrary; let us learn to damn hell eloquently and repeatedly.
