Starting as an apprentice and moving up to journeyman electrician, steward, foreman, and, at the international union level to Director of the Research and Education Department to Executive Assistant to the International Secretary. He served on various commissions under Presidents Johnson, Nixon, and culminating with President Carter's appointment to the U.S. Metric Board. He is currently a member of the Industrial Relations Research Association and the Society for Human Resource Management.
