Thais BoomsDR. THAIS BOOMS grew up in Brazil with her five siblings (four boys). Growing up, she was always fascinated with physics and biology--her father was an engineering professor and her mom a biology professor. During her training in dental school, she ralized orthodontics was a combination of physics and biology and she knew then she had found what she could be forever passionate about. While attending dental school in Brazil, Dr. Booms was always reading about orthodontics and her favorite author was a professor at the University of Michigan. Her goal became to study orthodontics at the University of Michigan and that is where she attended her three-year residency, graduating with her master's of science in orthodontics in 2001. After graduation, Dr. Booms served as an associate professor at the University of Michigan. While in Michigan, Dr. Booms met her husband, Christopher. They relocated to Sacramento, California in 2006 in search of similar weather to Dr. Booms' hometown in Brazil (being from Michigan, Chris has been a trooper adapting to Sacramento' summers). They have two kids--Enzo and Lia--who keep them amazed and on their toes. Dr. Booms and Chris chose Sacramento because of its outdoors opportunities--with their kids, they love camping, hiking, biking, paddle boarding and finding new swim holes in the Sierras.
