Teddi AhrensTeddi Ahrens' professional background is sociology, research and education, but she always been a writer, focusing especially on stories based on real people and real places. Also an advocate for children, she served on the School Committee in her Masachusetts community and coordinated an arts enrichment programs at The Children's Museum in Boston, MA. She was especially pleased to volunteer with Co-Partners of Campesinas in El Salvador and Guatemala and create an arts and crafts program for children there. During her visits to El Salvador, she discovered the amazing art of Fernando Llort, read about him, and arranged to meet the artist himself. By then she had already begun to write about him, and was even more inspired by witnessing his warmth and humor and humility.
