Symeon C SymeonidesSymeon C. Symeonides was born in 1949, in Lythrodontas, Cyprus. He received his first two law degrees summa cum laude (in private and public law) from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki in Greece, and the next two (an LL.M. and an S.JD.) from the Harvard Law School. He began his law teaching career at Thessaloniki, and then continued at Louisiana State University, where he became the Judge Albert Tate Professor of Law and Vice Chancellor. Since 1999, he has served as Dean and Professor of Law at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. In the interim, he has also taught and lectured widely at several American and European universities, including the Hague Academy of International Law. Symeonides has drafted three private international law codifications and provided legislative advice to several governments. Among his publications are 20 books and more than 80 articles, including the widely read annual surveys of American choice-of-law cases now in their 20th year. He is President of the American Society of Comparative Law and the recipient of the first Friedrich K. Juenger Prize in Private International Law. Read More Read Less
