Suresh Sukumar

Dr. Suresh Sukumar is an Additional Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging Technology at Manipal College of Health Professions, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, and also serves as the RSO level 1 in Kasturba Hospital Manipal Karnataka.He has previously served as an Adjunct Faculty in Sikkim Manipal University. Dr. Sukumar has received ICMR- Extra Mural Research Funding for his work in establishing diagnostic reference levels and optimization of radiation dose for head and neck and pelvic computed tomography protocols in radiation therapy planning.

He is an experienced PhD Guide and Co-Guide with 21 published articles, 4 review articles, 1 conference contribution, 2 review books, and 5 manuscript reviews. His areas of interest include Computed Tomography & MRI, Sedentary behaviour and vascular function, CT low kVp techniques, physical activity & yoga in the geriatric population (cognitive function), Tool development and validation, and Qualitative study. He is an expert in Radiology and Imaging, with a research focus on Sedentary behaviour and vascular function. Dr. Sukumar has patents for X-ray supporting pad and X-Ray chair and copyright for Medical practitioner's perception towards radiological examinations, Standardized radiation perception tool for a radiology technologist, and Development and Validation of a Tool to Assess the Knowledge, Attitude and Perception of Women towards Screening Mammography. Dr. Suresh is also actively involved in various professional bodies in Radiography.
