Stylianos S HarkianakisStylianos S. Harkianakis, the Greek-Orthodox Archbishop of Australia since 1975, was born in Rethymno, Crete. He graduated from the Theological School of Chalki, Istanbul, in 1958 and holds a postgraduate degree in systematic theology and philosophy rom the University of Bonn. In 1973 he received the International Gottfried von Herder Prize, awarded to scholars and artists from Central and Southeastern Europe whose life and work have improved the cultural understanding of European countries and their peaceful interrelations. In 1980 he received the Award for Poetry from the Academy of Athens. He is the author of theological works in addition to his poetry collections.
