StridePeter Stride is a recently retired consultant physician living in Brisbane. He graduated MB BS from the Middlesex Hospital, London in 1970 and migrated to Australia in 1975. He is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Australia, Edinburgh ad London, and has a higher medical doctorate, D.Med, from the University of Queensland.History has been a passion since primary school days in the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake and attending the same public school as King Alfred, though some years later. Growing up in England and overseas as a child of a physician in the Royal Navy one is surrounded by living and ancient history on land and at sea. Peter has some hundred publications, some medical, some relating to aspects of the medicine of history, and some political satire in bridge magazines. After thirty-seven years working for Queensland Health and the University of Queensland, he resigned to spend the last five years working as a peripatetic locum physician in every Australian state becoming familiar with the 'outback'.Peter has been married to Rosemary, a former nurse and English teacher, for fifty three years and enjoys the company of his three children and eight grandchildren who all live nearby. He has published one previous historical fictional novel, 'William Hobbys, the promiscuous king's promiscuous doctor', about a doctor during the Wars of the Roses, and one murder mystery novel set in Scotland, 'The Islands of Death' and appreciates travel, friends, wine and duplicate bridge.
