Steve HowarthThe author was born in Manchester, England, in 1959. He was educated at Moorside High School, Swinton. He joined Greater Manchester Police Force in 1980 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1990. He retired as a Detective Sergeant in December 010.
He married Janine in 1984 and has two sons, Daniel and Benjamin. Following their marriage to Katie and Elizabeth respectively, the author now has four grandchildren-Phoebe, George, Dylan and Edie-all of whom he adores.
