Stephen SmithymanStephen Smithyman is the son of New Zealand poets, Kendrick Smithyman and Mary Stanley. He studied at La Trobe University and the Victorian College of the Arts, and taught for many years in the outer western suburbs of Melbourne. He is now retired. H lives with his partner, Joy Dunstan, in West Preston. They have two children, Mia and Pablo. Stephen's poems and short stories have won a number of awards and been published in a range of magazines and anthologies.He won the Cancer Council of Victoria outstanding poem of the year award, 2011, the Poetica Christi prize, 2013, and the Glen Phillips Poetry Prize, 2016.
