Stefania Paolini

Stefania PaoliniStefania Paolini is Professor of Social and Intercultural Psychology at Durham University. She is a social psychologist with expertise in intergroup dynamics, prejudice, stereotyping, discrimination, and social cohesion. At the core of er work, Stefania explores with mixed methods 'when' and 'why' experiences with individual members of stigmatised groups affect responses to the stigmatised group as a whole, in conflict societies as well as peaceful settings. Stefania has published extensively, and her work on the topics of intergroup contact, intergroup friendship, intergroup emotions, motivation for contact, and negative contact is highly cited and has demonstrated impact beyond academia in high profile policy reports. Stefania is passionate about EDI issues in science and broader society and has received numerous science, service, and community awards for her work, including the Most Influential Article Awards from the Academy of Management and the Asian Journal of Social Psychology, the Australian Psychology Society's Peace Research Award, and the Distinguished Service to SPSSI Award. She is a Fellow of the Society of Experimental Social Psychology since 2013.
