Staci D NewmahrDr. Newmahr is an ethnographer and the author of Playing on the Edge: Sadomasochism, Risk and Intimacy (Indiana University Press, 2011), an ethnography of an SM community that theorizes risk-taking and emotion from an interactionist erspective. She is Associate Editor of Symbolic Interaction (Wiley-Blackwell). She has published several papers in sociology and interdisciplinary journals. Most recently, she completed an invited chapter for the anthology Life as Performance: A Dramaturgical Handbook (Ashgate, expected 2012) and an article on the eroticism of Renaissance Faire.
