Solome MealinSolome was born in Uganda and was diagnosed with sickle cell disease when she was 4 years old.Solome went to girls boarding schools in Uganda and joined Leeds Beckett University for her BSc (Hons) Health Sciences, MSC Public Health /Health Promotion.olome is now a PhD student in Nutrition and dietetics, looking at African Migrant women and their psychological well-being in the UK. Solome is a sickle cell warrior and proud mother of three and a wife to William. She loves advocating for sickle cell and blood donation awareness because they are close to her heart. Solome receives blood exchanges every four weeks, to reduce painful crises and avoid other atrocities like stroke due to sickle cell disease. Solome decided to speak out about sickle cell disease so that the public, politicians and health professionals could get a better understanding of the disease.
