In Raising My Voice: The Memoir of an Immigrant (2021), through sharing her own experiences, Spark teaches readers how to speak up, speak out, and come out through healing, owning, and sharing their own story. As an immigrant from a communist country, Simona faced gender barriers, discrimination, and even domestic violence. In a commitment to herself and her son for a greater life, she took a chance and came to the United States to pursue the American dream.
