Simon Mendes Da CostaSimon Mendes da Costa trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and worked as an actor for a number of years before turning his hand to writing. His first play, Table for One, was performed at the Hen and Chickens Theatre in 2001 (Time Out's Critcs' Choice). His second play, Losing Louis, earned him a nomination for the Evening Standard's Most Promising Playwright award. It premièred at Hampstead Theatre in 2005 directed by Robin Lefevre and starred Lynda Bellingham and Alison Steadman. The production transferred to the West End before embarking on a No. 1 UK tour. A separate, Americanised, production opened on Broadway at The Biltmore Theatre in 2006.
