Shihori TanabeShihori Tanabe , Ph.D. is a senior researcher at Division of Risk Assessment in National Institute of Health Sciences. She completed her doctorate in pharmaceutical science with the field in molecular biology and pharmacology at the University of Toko. She also performed the research mainly focused on biochemistry and cellular biology in Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago. A part of her research is focused on gene expression profiling, cellular signaling network analysis and protein regulation mechanism to find essential factors demonstrating cellular phenotypes in cancer and stem cells using bioinformatics approach including microarray and database analysis. She has also conducted research such as cellular signaling, cardiac cell research and protein regulation mechanism, and made contribution in the field of molecular biology, pharmacology and biochemistry. She performs research in molecular pathway network mechanism in epithelial-mesenchymal transition and cancer stem cells. She is interested in finding essential factors to distinguish cancer cell types for revealing mechanism of cancer development and safe application of the cells as cellular therapeutics in regenerative medicine, as well as in assessing the long-term influences of the alteration in gene expression and cellular phenotype from the point of view of regulatory science. She has been a delegate for the Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine, a councilor for Society for Regulatory Science of Medical Products, an editorial board member for several journals including Journal of Toxicological Sciences, Fundamental Toxicological Sciences, World Journal of Stem Cells, Journal of Medical Genomics and Biomarkers, and Artificial Intelligence in Cancer, an Editor-in-Chief for Journal of Clinical and Medical Research, Advances in Clinical and Medical Research, and Journal of Clinical Epigenetics, a Book Editor for “Cancer Stem Cell Markers and Related Network Pathways” in Springer Nature, an Executive Editor for Research Journal of Oncology, an Editor for Special Issue of Cancers, a Topic Editor for Frontiers in Oncology, a Guest Associate Editor for Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, and an Associate Editor for Molecular and Cellular Oncology (specialty section of Frontiers in Oncology and Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology).
