Harley was born in Washington, DC, and is the Founder and Overseer of Run and Shout Evangelical International Ministries and The Burchie and Edmond Harley Center of Hope, Refuge and Restoratio, in short, also known as Overcomers (1 John 5:5). With roots in Dillon, South Carolina, she is also the author of her debut book, Redeemed, Restored, and Recommissioned.With a sheer determination to never give up, Bishop-Elect Harley's challenges in life has helped shape her into the woman she is today. Her faith, tenacity and trust in God while going through the storms of life as a single Mom of four children, including one with multiple, severe illnesses, was featured in an article in The Washington Post and Bowie Blade. In the summer of 2011, she was highlighted in the magazine, Joshua's Journal, published by Reid Temple A.M.E. Church. Well-connected in the community, Bishop-Elect Harley is the recipient of Prince George's County's Most Outstanding Advocate Award for Family Services and Mental Health; was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Diploma in Chaplaincy, Leadership and Ministry from The Canadian International Chaplaincy Academy; and was bestowed an Ambassadorial Appointment to the United Nations. In 2015 she earned a long-awaited B.S. Degree in Biblical Studies from Lancaster Bible College. She has also served as a volunteer at Children's National Medical Center.The heart of her work as illustrated in her writings and ministry tend to focus on education, encouragement, and empowerment. Published later this year, she will co-author an anthology entitled Empowered to Win 2nd Edition, which will include a contributing chapter titled Stay in the Race.
