Sharon WilkinsonIn 2003, Sharon Wilkinson arrived at Arizona State University as the State Department's Diplomat in Residence Program, which places career diplomats at a select number of university campuses for the purpose of counseling and recruiting students for awide variety of career opportunities in foreign service. Prior to her engagement at ASU, Ambassador Wilkinson has a distinguished career in public service. Her career includes assignments as Vice Consul in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Consul in Accra, Ghana, program officer for Africa in the Bureau of Cultural Affairs, management analyst for the Office of Management Operations, Deputy Principal Officer in Tijuana, Mexico, and Consul General in Curacao. In 1995, she served as the U.S. Ambassador to Burkina Faso and in 2000, she served as Ambassador to the Republic of Mozambique. In addition, she has directed the Face-To-Face Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Office of Diplomatic and Public Liaison in the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
