Shanaya Hassaan AliShanaya Nour Hassaan Ali was born and raised in Harlem New York. She grew up with a lot of love but struggled severely with jinn attacks mostly during her sleep. Shanaya found it difficult to openly talk about her problem because it was considered tobe paranormal, unbelievable, and often times scary. Her education is what set the foundations for her to have the courage and the skills to write her memoir entitled Nothing Is What It Appears to be. She graduated from The American University in Cairo with a Masters in Anthropology and Sociology. Her interactions with Egyptians who lived in poverty is what sparked the idea that people needed her story. She studied how innovative people who lived in poverty had to be on a daily basis in order to survive. She saw and heard about many people struggling to eat but to her surprise were also challenged with paranormal experiences very similar to her own. It was all too familiar so Shanaya opened up about her struggles and as a result found many people reaching out for her support.
