Saulius SaltenisBorn in 1945 in Utena, Lithuania, Saulius Saltenis published his first book, a collection of short stories, at the age of nineteen. Besides novels and short stories, he has also written plays, musicals, and film scenarios, as well as worked as an edior. Active politically in Lithuania's independence movement, he was one of the signatories to the Act of the Reestablishment of the State of Lithuania in 1990 and served as Minister of Culture from 1994 to 1996.
