Sarah L AldermanSarah Alderman received a PhD in Zoology from the University of Guelph, Canada, where her research investigated the molecular regulation of the endocrine stress response in teleost fish. As an Adjunct Professor at Guelph, she now studies how environmntal stressors affect the form and function of vertebrates, including the mechanisms that regulate adult neurogenesis in zebrafish, the physiological consequences of crude oil exposure in salmonids, and the impact of low oxygen and cold temperature on the cardiac proteome of ectotherms. Her research program is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and the Great Lakes Fisheries Commission. In addition to her research endeavours, Sarah has a passion for science communication. She was a long-time contributing author to the Journal of Experimental Biology's Outside JEB editorial column, and received a Public Awareness Award from the Canadian Society of Zoologists in 2019.
