Sarah Jane ZiegelSarah Ziegel trained as a nurse nearly four decades ago. She had to stop wage earning 'work' when her first babies, twins were born. She did some book editing and wrote health factsheets while her children slept. At nearly three, they received a shoc diagnosis of severe autism and she has not been able to work since. Her next two babies born between a series of miscarriages were also boys. Her middle son regressed at just two, losing all language and was diagnosed with autism. Her youngest son, Marcus, born when Sarah was 47 never spoke and was also diagnosed before the age of two with autism.It is a very unusual family in which all four children have the severe type of autism which all her boys have. Sarah embarked on providing the boys with early intensive intervention (ABA) which required a lengthy fight with her local education authority and three tribunals.
