Sanford KleinProfessor Klein is the Bascom Ouweneel Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has been on the faculty at Wisconsin since 1977. He is associated with the Solar Energy Laboratory and has been involved in many stdies of solar and other types of energy systems. He is the author or co-author of more than 150 publications relating to the analysis of energy systems. Professor Klein's current research interests are in solar energy systems and applied thermodynamics and heat transfer. In addition, he is also actively involved in the development of engineering computer tools for both instruction and research. He is the primary author of a modular simulation program (TRNSYS), a solar energy system design program (F-CHART), a finite element heat transfer program (FEHT) and a general engineering equation solving program (EES). Professor Klein is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME); the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); and the American Solar Energy Society (ASES).
