Samantha HorwitzAfter graduating from both the University of Maryland, College Park and Howard University School of Law, Sam was accepted by the United States Secret Service. She was the only female in her graduating class to complete extensive training at the Federl Law Enforcement Training Center and the James J. Rowley Training Center located just outside Washington, D.C. She was assigned to the New York Field Office, Electronic Crimes Task Force and in addition to investigative case work, she provided protection to several United States Presidents, Former Presidents, First Ladies, and many foreign dignitaries. September 11, 2001, was a turning point in her life... She was in the World Trade Center's North Tower when American Airlines Flight 11 struck it. After many difficult months, she made the heart wrenching decision to leave the Secret Service due to the effects of PTS (post-traumatic stress). After struggling for over a year, she found the help she needed and got well. She pursued a career in the Health & Wellness industry as a franchise owner of a sports performance center in Maryland, providing others with a place to get well and stay healthy. After realizing that Law Enforcement was still in her blood, she closed the sports performance center and returned to the law enforcement community in Montgomery County, Maryland as a Lieutenant assigned to The Executive Protection Detail. Her law enforcement career spanned 12 years and she retired in 2012. Sam is now a successful entrepreneur, business owner, and speaker. In addition to being a firearms instructor, Sam operates Heroes 4 Healing, an outreach program for First Responders, Law Enforcement, and Military Veterans who are suffering from the effects of PTS.
