Samantha DealSamantha Deal was born and raised in Western North Carolina. She holds an MFA from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a PhD from Western Michigan University. She was the recipient of residencies from the Ludington Writers' group and ws awarded the 2016 nonfiction prize from Writers@Work. Her poetry and non- fiction have appeared in Best New Poets 2017, Quarterly West, Hunger Mountain, Word Riot, The Journal, The Boiler, Sonora Review, Tupelo Quarterly, Rattle, Ninth Letter Online, Mississippi Review, and other journals.
