Ruth G FowlerRuth Fowler, a licensed professional counselor, specializes in achieving short term results using Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) combined with other modalities. She worked for twenty five years as an educator teaching English, creative writng, and career-based classes to gifted and talented, honors, academic, and at risk students. In private practice as a career counselor and psychotherapist since 1995, she also presents workshops and seminars to corporate, government, education, and community groups. She earned her M.C.C. designation after serving as a career counselor for five years. However, the majority of her practice is serving individuals and families for personal issues. Ms. Fowler's degrees include an M.Ed. in Counseling, University of Houston; an M.A., California State University at Northridge; and a B.A., San Diego State University. From the Albert Ellis Institute of New York, she has received extensive REBT Training as well as Recovery Training in a scientific approach called SMART(TM) Recovery. She has facilitated a SMART(TM) group each Tuesday evening for 24 years, empowering its participants by providing tools for their personal journey. It is hoped that the need for recovery from upsetting childhood experiences will be prevented through some of the tools presented in this chapter book. The story explains and illustrates a few ways children can heal their own wounds as they come up. Always active, Ms. Fowler enjoys traveling, yoga, photography, creative writing, bridge, film and anything else that's fun or interesting. A resident of Houston, Texas, Ms. Fowler's greatest treasures are her daughter and son, their spouses, and five grandchildren. The characters in the story are named after her grandchildren.
