Rosemary Ross JohnstonProfessor Emerita Rosemary Johnston AM is widely published both nationally and internationally and is the author of Australian Literature for Young People (Oxford 2017), which was launched by then Governor-General Quentin Bryce. She is the author of art 3 Literature (Chapters 26-36) in Oxford's best-selling Literacy: Reading, Writing and Children's Literature academic text (six editions 2001-2020). She is an active researcher and has held key leadership roles at the University of Technology Sydney and in several international professional organisations, including Fédération Internationale des Langues et Littératures Modernes affiliated to UNESCO. Professor Johnston has worked with remote Indigenous communities in the Pilbara and Western Desert Lands, the Yorke Peninsula, Galiwin'ku, and Lockhart River. Her particular passion over many years has been helping young people in disadvantaged circumstances, both in regional and urban areas.
