Rosemary Ann BrooksRecently, we discovered an old box of manuscripts and poems that I had created when enrolled in a wonderful Children's Book writing class back in the 1970s. My husband was the Head Football Coach at Alma College and I coached the Cheerleading Team. Ufortunately, the many narratives penned were in longhand or typed on an old fashion typewriter, but after reviewing them and converting to workable documents, I decided to publish my first Children's novel, An Unforgettable Day. As a wife of a college football coach, my daily activities called for multitasking while raising four children, attending home and away games on Fall Saturdays, assisting Phil while recruiting and entertaining prospective student/athletes and their parents, hosting open houses for recruits and parents, college professors, and staff members after many home football and basketball games, and taking care of our families basic needs, my duties became a full-time job. After our children reached middle and high school age and capable of working, we opened a sports store that I operated in downtown Alma called the Action Corner, one of Nike Inc.'s first family dealerships in Michigan. In 1991, we headed to Ann Arbor where Phil worked as an assistant football coach at Eastern Michigan University. In 1992, we moved near Lake Michigan between Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, close to a beautiful place we visited many years earlier. Phil accepted the head football and track coaching positions, as well as the principalship at Lake Michigan Catholic High School, with my encouragement, where he enjoyed building successful relationships with parents, staff and young people. However, our lives slowed in 2005 when Phil officially retired after I had assisted him for nearly 50 years as a football coaches' wife. My joys and blessings include; Phil, four children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, my faith, and many good friends at Tosi's Café in St. Joseph. Since graduating from a professional college, and heavily involved in various school and community activities, during my downtime, I became an avid reader and lover of fiction while collecting a thousand plus novels written by the likes of James Patterson, David Baldacci, Michael Connelly, John Sanford, Agatha Christie, and many others.
