Rose MettsDr. Rose Metts was an associate professor of English at Savannah State University. She retired after teaching classes in English Composition and Literature for 26 years.Her accomplishments include teaching study abroad courses to college students in hina and directing several community ventures. One of the most notable programs she led was a literacy program that connected undergraduate volunteers with elementary schoolers in need of reading support. She also organized a composition and art event for youth at a local community center and, with her husband Dan Metts, launched a neighborhood Bible Club to mentor young people in their community. Dr. Metts has presented material from her dissertation, "Rhetorical Strategies of the Inter-racial Church," at several regional conferences. In fact, as a professor, she always used those opportunities to encourage college students to participate in scholarly conferences by bringing them with her as co-presenters.
