Ronald O W ScottRON SCOTT is a member of the Woodland Métis Nation of Ontario, in the Thunder Bay area. However, he is from Kingston, Ontario, and he was born June 26, 1982 in Belleville, Ontario. Ron has been fortunate to have worked very closely with many Elders ad traditional teachers from the Ontario Métis Nation, Cree Elders in Alberta, and Ojibwe & Mohawk Elders in Ontario. He is also a member of the Mankind Project and he completed his work with this group in Alberta. It was during a fire ceremony that Ron developed the idea for his book Burn Journal. During this ceremony you write something that you want to let go of on paper and then you give it up to the fire. Throwing an internal thing, that you've put on paper, into the fire and watching it turn into ash & smoke before your very eyes; is the most literal way of letting go of something within you.Ron has written and illustrated numerous children's books and he is the creator of Kidspired Books. He is also an independent journalist at, and the director of, RéèL TALK MEDIA.Ron came to the art of literature by discovering that he had a hidden talent in composition. He has taken his knowledge of Native culture further, by using his talents in Native beadwork to create Bear Essential Native Beadwork. Understanding that humour is a large part of Native culture, Ron also created a humorous Native t-shirt company called Extra Dead Lehhh Native Apparel. Ron donates a portion of all sales back into Native communities, to assist with programs and needed items. None of this would be possible if not for the inspiration, support and love that Ron has in his life from everyone around him. Read More Read Less
