Robert W Wheeler Emmy Award-winner Robert W. Wheeler cofounded (with his wife, Dr. Florence Ridlon) the Jim Thorpe Foundation and served as its first president. Sports Illustrated credits him with primary responsibility for the restoration of Jim Thorp's Olympic gold medals in 1982. Wheeler, Ridlon, and Bright Path Strong's lobbying of the International Olympic Committee led to Thorpe's reinstatement in 2022 as the sole Olympic winner in his events. Wheeler and Ridlon have managed public relations for ABC Sports, Fox Sports, and the White House Conference for Children and Youth. He holds degrees in history and education from Syracuse University and New York University.
